Again, every night before going to sleep we go over the days (…Tuesday, Wednesday,… says Jaime until we get to Saturday). In general, for people with ASD, being organized and being able to anticipate what is going to happen is very important, it gives them peace of mind.
Others of us talk about routine, we get tired of always doing the same thing, the constant repetition. But deep down something similar happens to us because in order to feel safe we need to know that things are going to be a certain way or, at least, that there will be no major changes in the usual.
Some of us find it a relief to break the monotony punctually and then return to what makes us feel at ease (…rest on Saturday, says Jaime, creating another routine that breaks with the previous one).
