Not the little whistle… says Jaime, and covers his ears. His friend Patricia has whistled and he doesn’t like her doing it.
Patricia is also friends with Sara, Maria, Alejandra, and Irene. They all go to the same center as Jaime, they are people with ASD.
The disorder is said to be less prevalent in women than in men; it is also said to manifest itself differently. I don't know.
I know that each one has her own way of being, her own personality, and that is why we look for the best in each case. Each one of them is the center, the most important thing. And so we recognize them, important, each one with their difficulties, with their different talents, facing a world that does not make things easy for them… just like the boys, because they are all people with ASD.
Outside, things are different, differences are displayed as a symbol of superiority, power or possession, and generate injustices simply for being normal or strange, white or black, male or female.
Working and not being able to… says Patricia. She has her talent and has started her brand “Algo de Patricia”. She draws fantastic zebras, elephants, birds with carrots, miraculous leopards and many more that live in her world.
She knows that she is important, that she is different, unique and unrepeatable, and she teaches us that, if you know how to look carefully, you will end up discovering that you are neither better nor worse than anyone else .
