PENSAMIENTOS OSCUROS

DARK THOUGHTS

Browsing the internet I came across an article published in May 2017 on the BBC entitled “My children’s autism brings me dark thoughts” ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/mundo/noticias-39770520 ) In short, it was intended to express the pressure that the mother of three children with autism felt in her environment to give an optimistic image of her situation.
Perhaps, many times it seems that there is no problem, that having a child with a disability is a blessing or that parents are heroes in an exceptional situation. But that is a mistake, not all situations are the same nor do people react in the same way.
That's why I wanted to write this review to, in some way, show that there is no unique way to face a situation, that you are not better or worse for expressing emotions that go against the grain, or that in many cases circumstances can end up overwhelming us.
If we aim to give visibility to ASD, it is to make them known and to make known the multiple realities that exist around them, without in any case judging the attitudes or decisions of those of us who have to face a reality that escapes the ordinary.
There is only one thing that I understand should be common and that is what, in some way, should move us: the most vulnerable people should be the important ones... and then the rest of us come.Javier Martínez Erdozáin
