People with ASD have different responses to pain, they may be hypo- or hypersensitive to it, and their communication difficulties do not help.
Our wounds hurt, our bodies ache, or something simply happens, a disappointment, a failure, a loss; something that opens our eyes to see what we already knew but had forgotten: that we are vulnerable and that, to a greater or lesser extent, we need comfort and compassion.
Whether small or large, pain is something we would like to avoid but which we must inexorably endure, which shapes us, which sticks to us and accompanies us, perhaps for a moment or perhaps forever, and which sometimes turns into sadness and other times into suffering. Life is complicated and pain is part of it.
You can rebel against it or simply accept it, give it meaning or not, embrace it and love it or deny your fate; each one will have to find his own way to be with it.
