…this world is very bad, says Jaime. He frowns and opens his arms as if looking for an explanation, it's something very serious.
When you expose yourself you take risks, it is clear that not everyone will like what you do.
We usually take what we are told for granted, we hear what we want to hear, we like to believe that we are on the side of the good guys and we do not hesitate before making judgments on issues that, many times, we do not know and we have taken for granted without further ado. Arguments are proclaimed as acts of faith and are thrown like darts without stopping to think about what we say and its consequences.
The other becomes the enemy and we are merciless with him.
This is nothing new, it has happened before, but now, in this culture of the right to a permanent opinion, things move faster. The tools for circulating information are fantastic, although it is confusing, not all of it is worthwhile. Reason and unreason, slander and praise, all have the same loudspeaker and are presented as unquestionable truths beyond any doubt.
It is not about not having an opinion, or not being critical, or even relativism, not everything has the same value. What is missing is prudence, education, in its double meaning, and indulgence.
Guys, this is very serious. How embarrassing! Jaime says. He heard it in the Peter Pan movie and he has been repeating it a lot lately.
